2000 was a rough year for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.

Benoit won the title at the beginning of January - only to leave the company the following day. The title was vacated a total of five times throughout the year, and it was also won by David Arquette and Vince Russo. To call it the lowest year of the championship is a grand understatement.

As such, let's go ahead and say that the first WCW Money in the Bank ladder match of the new millennium would have been for the vacant championship. A number of former champions would have been involved, including three men won the title in the final 12 months of the company - Booker T, Diamond Dallas Page and Scott Steiner.

Joining the trio of champions would have been four men who never got a chance to hold the title. Vampiro, Rey Mysterio, Lance Storm and Kidman were all important to the final year of WCW in very different ways. Storm may have been an outside bet for the win and the championship, but ultimately he would fall short in his attempt to establish the Canadian Heavyweight Championship.

DDP would have pulled out the emotional win, only to of course have the rug pulled out from him immediately. Jeff Jarrett would have been waiting in the wings for the winner, picking the bones of a heavily-taped and exhausted DDP for another World title.
