10 WCW World Heavyweight Championship Challengers Nobody Remembers
1. Road Warrior Animal - Sin, 2001
Coming into 2001's Sin PPV, Ric Flair teased to the world that the fourth and final member of the night's Four Corners contest for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship would "rock Scott Steiner's world".
In reality, the sight of Sid Vicious snapping his leg jumping off the top rope earlier in the contest had done that already. But when The Nature Boy's music eventually hit the speakers in the closing stages, fans were eventually treated to the return of a tag team icon and one half of the Road Warriors - Animal.
Sure, he'd only be involved in the actual match for all of about two seconds thanks to the aforementioned shock injury, booting Sid once and allowing Big Poppa Pump to come away with the victory, but the record still shows that Animal was an official challenger in the WCW World Championship match.
It's not hard to see why most folks don't recall this reveal or his participation in the contest that clearly (or fondly) as the night and match has gone down in history for playing host to one of the most graphic fractures you're ever likely to see in a wrestling ring.
It still makes for a tough watch today.
