10 WCW World Heavyweight Championship Challengers Nobody Remembers
5. Jerry Flynn - Nitro, 1999
What should have been a game-changing career-shift for Bret 'The Hitman' Hart soon turned into a nightmare after first making his presence known in WCW back in December 1997. Things just never seemed to click for the former face of WWE and the majority of his run with Vince McMahon's arch rivals can best be summed up as rather forgettable.
The Hart Family man's time as the reigning WCW World Champion falls into that bracket too, with a career-ending boot to the skull at the hands (or should that be feet) of Goldberg being the most memorable moment to come from Hart's time holding the big gold strap. So, it's easy to forget that Hart actually continued wrestling for a time in the wake of said whack to the head. And therefore, the fact that 'The Hitman' once defended his strap against Jerry Flynn of all people frequently slips through the cracks.
The pair's Nitro clash in 1999 lasted little under four minutes, with Hart seeing off the "shoot fighter" with a sharpshooter in the end, thanks to a heavy assist from his nWo buddies - that's still an odd sentence to behold.
