10 WCW World Heavyweight Championship Challengers Nobody Remembers

4. Horace Hogan - Thunder, 2000

Hulk Hogan mystery
WCW

2000, as you'll be reminded a few more times before we reach the end of this list, was a bit on an odd time in the land of WCW.

While the likes of Hogan, Sting, and Goldberg were still knocking around the main event scene, a few new names were being added to the mix in an attempt to freshen up the show on the back of a "reboot" of sorts in April.

Before long, Jeff Jarrett was nudged to the top of the pile on the back of besting Diamond Dallas Page at Stadium Stampede to win the vacant WCW title. But while many fans quite rightly remember this period more for the surreal fact that David Arquette somehow wiggled his way into a world title run, Double J also put it all on the line, after eventually regaining the strap, against some other rather unexpected personalities.

On top of defending the title against Billy Kidman and The Franchise, Jarrett also went one-on-one with Hogan, of the Horace variety, that is. Coming during an episode of Thunder, The Hulkster's nephew went five minutes with the WCW champ before being beaten by Jarrett's The Stroke finisher and leaving the company shortly after.
