10 Weird But True Facts For WWE In 2023
3. Record-Setting Rumble
Every year, the Royal Rumble seems to set new records with
eliminations, appearances and other random minutiae. The 2023 PLE provided no
shortage of record-setting moments for the company.
For the men’s Rumble, Cody Rhodes winning at #30 established the final entry spot as the luckiest number, unseating #27 from its long-held perch as the best number. Five men have won from the last spot, as opposed to four from #27. Entering at #1, Gunther set the record for the longest time spent in a traditional, 30-man Rumble.
In the women’s Rumble, Rhea Ripley became the first woman to win from the first spot and set the longevity record. She also took over to top spot for most cumulative eliminations in women’s Rumbles. Chelsea Green set the futility record, being tossed in five seconds, a record. And it took 11 women to bounce Nia Jax, a record number of superstars involved in any single elimination.
Records will be broken every year in WWE’s signature event,
but this might be a record number of notable marks to be set in one year.
