Pulling double duty at a major WWE PPV or PLE is not a completely foreign concept. “Macho Man” Randy Savage wrestled four matches at WrestleMania IV en route to winning his first WWF Championship.

But that phenomenon has become much less common, especially in the Triple H era of five-match cards. Still, Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes took advantage of a recent development with WrestleMania to wrestle twice, and in doing so, do something that had never been done before: Roman and Cody became the first wrestlers to main-event both nights of WrestleMania, competing in the tag match on the first night alongside The Rock and Seth Rollins (respectively), and then battling for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship the following night.

More notably, the double duty meant that Reigns tied and then eclipsed Hulk Hogan’s 31-year-old record of closing out eight WrestleManias, now with nine main event matches. Given his standing in the company, it’s highly likely that the Tribal Chief will only add onto that record in the coming years. Even with the two-night Manias, there’s a very real possibility that this could become an insurmountable record by the time Roman hangs up his boots.
