WWE has established that WrestleMania 40 set several records via business metrics, but those weren’t the only marks broken this spring.

The two-night event set a record for crowning new champions at Mania, with seven title changes taking place during the weekend: two new sets of tag champs (splitting the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship), new Intercontinental Champion, two new World Heavyweight Champions (Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest), new WWE Women’s Champion, and new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

WrestleMania 35 saw eight titles change hands, but only six took place on the main card. What’s more is that this very well might be a record for title changes at any WWE PPV/PLE (provided you don’t count the Hardcore Championship).

Is it possible to break this record? There are currently nine active titles on the main roster, with a 10th, the Women’s United States Championship, on the way. Throw in the ever-looming presence of the Money in the Bank briefcase (provided the holder carries it until and cashes it in on the correct night), and there’s always a chance fans could see eight or more title switches at one PLE. Perhaps the first two-night SummerSlam could be the scene…
