10 Weird Times WWE Superstars Shared The Same Theme

What do Hulk Hogan, CM Punk, Goldberg and Michael Cole have in common?

God bless Jim Johnston.

As WWE's go-to music man for over 30 years, Johnston penned many of the classic entrance themes wrestling fans have come to know and love. He didn't write them all, no, but WWE music is generally associated with the man, and he worked closely with Vince McMahon to provide a library of tunes the boss could use.

Note the wording there. Jim didn't always write songs for specific superstars; sometimes, he'd feed WWE music and they'd be the ones to decide which wrestler used it. The same goes for outside bands recording music for the company too. It's not uncommon for tuneage to be recycled at a later date, sometimes years after it was relevant.

This creates confusion when looking back over WWE history on the Network, because it's flat out weird to see one wrestler using a theme more famously linked with another. Johnston, along with artists like Killswitch Engage, Rick Derringer and even classical composers such as Modest Mussorgsky, has seen his work rehashed just so nobody in wrestling's biggest company is doomed to make his/her entrance to silence.

Yes, God bless Jim Johnston...
