When the 2005 Royal Rumble ended with John Cena and Batista falling over the ropes and out of the ring at the same time, there was mass confusion -- primarily because it wasn't supposed to happen. Batista was to fall over the ropes with Cena, but hold on and land on the apron, winning with no controversy. In the chaos, referees improvised, with Raw officials declaring Batista the winner and Smackdown officials giving credit to Cena.

Vince McMahon had to save the day. Furious, he ran to the ring and slid in, but when he tried to get up, he immediately fell back down. Apparently, he had blown a quad, either by whacking it into the ring apron or by putting too much pressure on it when he tried to stand. McMahon, from a seated position, announced that the match would continue.

Reportedly, Vince refused help backstage, limping around with his weight on his good quad. That pressure, in turn, caused it to tear, and the chairman was immobilized for a while.
