10 Weirdest AEW Main Events Ever

Nick Comoroto, who brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "a bear of a man", was just a developmental talent when WWE cut him in 2020. AEW picked him up in October and within less than year, he was main-eventing their flagship weekly show.

The match in question was not only against Dustin Rhodes, a legend and one of Comoroto's trainers, but a Bullrope match, the Rhodes family's signature stipulation. This was part of Dustin's feud with QT Marshall, after the latter turned on him to brack up The Nightmare Family.

Despite being the size of three buldings, Comoroto lost to The Natural in a fairly unremarkable encounter. This was likely done to give the big man a bit of a push, but that failed miserably, as he's been mostly confined to Dark and Ring of Honor in the years since.

Bullrope matches are fairly rare these days, which makes it even more odd that AEW were willing to almost throw one away on an unproven commodity. Also, this episode of Dynamite featured a terrific tag match between The Young Bucks and Death Triangle, which would have been much better suited to the closer.
