10 Weirdest ECW Main Events Ever

1. Terry Funk vs Bret Hart - Terry Funk’s WrestleFest 1997

Just two months after Jerry Lawler showed up in ECW, their partnership with the WWF heralded the arrival of another major star.

Terry Funk's WrestleFest from September 1997 was an ECW event organised to mark the Texas-born star's retirement (lol). As this was his big day, Funk got to wrestle somebody very special - WWF Champion Bret Hart.

The show, which also featured Mankind wrestling Sabu, ended with Funk taking on The Hitman in a no disqualification match. In true old school fashion, Terry lost his retirement match, putting The Hitman over in front of a very thankful crowd.

A WWF commentator appearing in ECW is one thing, but the company's World champion crossing the line was sheer madness. It goes to show how respected The Funker was that a star the calibre of Hart would be willing to do something like this and wrestle in front of only around 4,000 people to give him the perfect send-off.

Just kidding. Funk returned to the ring 11 days later in Japan, the first of many broken retirements.
