Jerry Lawler hated ECW. He made no secret of it, regularly trashing the company on WWF TV and giving it the hilarious nickname "Extremely Crappy Wrestling".

The Extreme boys got their revenge when, on the February 24th 1997 episode of Raw, a bunch of them invaded the show and stuck it to The King. This led to Lawler making a trip to Philadelphia and recruiting Rob Van Dam and Sabu to his side for this incredible main event from Heat Wave 1997.

Representing ECW against the Memphis menace were Tommy Dreamer, The Sandman, and Rick Rude, another oft-forgotten alum. The six men tussled inside of a steel cage, which made it much harder to stop Rude when he returned to his old WWF allegiances and turned on his partners.

This crazy bout ended in suitably mental fashion when Taz came down to confront the turncoats and ended up slapping a Tazmission on Lawler.

Seeing the WWF's colour commentator get choked out in the middle of an ECW ring was simply astonishing - a reminder that anything could happen during the heat of the Monday Night War.
