We've all seen casket matches before. Someone gets dumped into a casket, the lid is closed, they go away for a little bit, and all is hunky dory.
In Lucha Underground, things are a little different. They don't have casket matches, they have Grave Consequences.
After a brutal Grave Consequences match, Mil Muertes (The Man of a Thousand Deaths) put Prince Puma's mentor Konnan in a casket and closed the lid. Which means Konnan died.
That moment is when many fans realized that Lucha Underground played by a different set of rules, taking kayfabe to a whole new level. Konnan has not been seen since, and the few times other Grave Consequences matches have happened, the losers all ended up dead.
Naturally, in LU, where dark magic exists, death is not necessarily the end. But it's still rare to escape the casket.
