10 Weirdest WrestleMania Openers In History

3. Big Boss Man & Bull Buchanan vs. The Godfather & D'Lo Brown (WrestleMania 2000)

At WrestleMania 2000, Triple H would become the first heel World Champion to leave the event with the title still around his waist, something many cited as cause for concern with the way the company were headed. It's striking to think people were so worried about things like that at the time, when they should have been asking the question why the card was opened by such an average tag-team match! Imagine how great it would have been to kick things off with the incendiary Triple Threat match between Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle? Both the Intercontinental and European Titles were on the line in the contest, one which thrilled every fan in attendance. By comparison, the Big Boss Man and Bull Buchanan vs. The Godfather and D'Lo Brown seemed to exist as an opener only so The Godfather could get a big pop from the fans, because he was accompanied to the ring by rapper Ice-T. If that was the case, it worked, but the match was fairly drab, and not an ideal choice to start proceedings.
