10 Weirdest WWE PPV Main Events Ever

8. Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt - No Mercy 2016

On the surface, there's nothing obviously wrong with Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton headling a pay-per-view in 2016.

This was in the midst of their "Viper in the Family" storyline, in which Orton would eventually join Wyatt, only to betray him down the line. This match from No Mercy also featured the return of Luke Harper, who would play a key role in this feud.

So, why is it on the list?

Orton vs. Wyatt is a weird one because there were two other matches on the card that could and should have gone on last.

The first was a WWE Championship triple threat match between Dean Ambrose, John Cena, and defending champion AJ Styles. This was easily SmackDown's top story at the time, but it ended up opening the show instead of rounding it off.

The second was a match between Dolph Ziggler and Intercontinental Champion The Miz. Not only was the title on the line, but so was Ziggler's career in a match that had been built to very well on TV.

So, why did neither of these bouts go on last? Who knows? This was the second brand split. Anything was possible.
