Plenty of legendary wrestlers never got the chance to main event a WWE pay-per-view; Dusty Rhodes; Ricky Steamboat; Jake "The Snake" Roberts; Razor Ramon. But guess who did?

A bunch of guys in their 20s dressed as cheerleaders.

At Vengeance 2006, Triple H and Shawn Michaels of D-Generation X furthered their feud with the McMahons without facing either Vince or Shane. Instead, their opponents would be Kenny, Johnny, Mikey, Nicky, and Mitch, AKA The Spirit Squad.

The Squad had been recruited by the evil capitalists to wreak havoc on the boys in neon green. Why Vince didn't hire better wrestlers to do this job remains a mystery, but that's what happened.

This is how a 5-on-2 handicap match got top billing over John Cena vs. Sabu, Kurt Angle vs. Randy Orton, and a WWE title scrap between Edge and Rob Van Dam. The Game and The Showstopper pulled out the win with each man pinning one of the Squad, rendering this already-ridiculous group even less threatening.

None of the cheerleaders ever got to be main eventers again, except for Nicky who, of course, went on to become Dolph Ziggler.
