7. John Cena & Candice Michelle vs Umaga, Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch - July 23rd 2007
WWE have put on some great champion versus champion matches over the years.
Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior, John Cena vs. Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar vs. Daniel Bryan, the list goes on, but it definitely doesn't include this one from the July 23rd 2007 episode of Raw.
The main event of this show was a special "Champions Only" handicap tag team match. On one side, you had tag champs Trevor Murdoch and Lance Cade and Intercontinental Champion Umaga, whilst on the other, there was WWE Champion John Cena... and Women's Champion Candice Michelle.
As the old saying goes, one of these things is not like the other.
After Cena tried to fend them off, the baddies eventually got their hands on poor Candice and looked like they were about to destroy her when, thankfully, Jeff Hardy ran down to make the save. Cena was then able to pin Murdoch, making everyone except him look like a total chump, which was the style at the time.
WWE don't do intergender matches very often, and with a track record like this, maybe that's a good thing.
