10 Weirdest WWE Royal Rumble Entrants

8. Carlos Colón (1993)

43-year-old fiery youngster Carlos Colón waddled into 1993's Royal Rumble to a deafening cacophony of complete silence, as Gorilla Monsoon did as little as possible on commentary to explain the Puerto Rican's glittering career in his native territory.

The supposed rookie - according to Monsoon, anyway - had enjoyed an extremely brief run in the then-WWWF all the way back in 1968. It's not inconceivable that some in the audience, quarter of a century later, remembered the upstart from his first spell, but if they did, they kept remarkably quiet about it.

The majority of the crowd, in an era when you watched what you were given, were simply not au fait with Cólon's 25-year career outside America. He could have been the best wrestler in the world (he wasn't) and it wouldn't have mattered a jot. At least he managed to eliminate Damien Demento, before being ousted himself by eventual winner Yokozuna.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
