10 Wild WWE Matches You Forgot Almost Happened

5. Roman Reigns vs. Adam Pearce (Royal Rumble 2021)

There's a chance Adam Pearce will stick on a singlet and do some wrasslin' for WWE someday. The former NWA World Champion was an accomplished pro in his prime, but he's exclusively known as an on-air, non-wrestling authority figure today. Maybe a match vs. fellow GM Nick Aldis will change that.

Hell, things almost changed in 2021.

Back then, Roman Reigns was running hot as the tyrannical 'Tribal Chief'. Y'know, the heel version that successfully remodelled his entire WWE career. Heading into the Royal Rumble show, Reigns and Paul Heyman started dropping hints that Roman fancied putting Pearce in his place for meddling in Bloodline affairs.

WWE even created a graphic for Reigns vs, Pearce at the Rumble before changing that to Reigns vs. Kevin Owens on TV. The company went as far as insinuating that Adam's fate would be sealed in a dramatic 'Last Man Standing' bout against one of the best on the roster. At one point, people genuinely thought this was going to happen.

The real plan wasn't revealed until mid-January.
