Vince Russo dearly wanted to see this go down at SummerSlam 1999.

He even scripted Chyna to win a three-way over Triple H and The Undertaker on the 9 August '99 Raw. Later, the '9th Wonder' beat Hunter in a singles to confirm that she'd be heading to the pay-per-view. That's when Mick Foley got involved, beat Chyna, then Shane McMahon booked a singles between Mick and Trips that led to the Triple Threat with Austin. Got that?

Yeah, WWF booking was car crash in the summer of 1999.

Jim Ross told fans via his 'Grilling JR' show that there was never a chance Austin would go for the match with Chyna anyway. He didn't want to wrestle her, and nobody was going to force him to. Russo's scheming was shot to pieces overnight.

It would've been interesting to see what the buyrate would've been like for SummerSlam had Chyna vs. Austin gone ahead. That match certainly wasn't the wildest thing pitched during the 'Attitude Era', let's be honest!
