10 World Class Athletes Who Would Have Been Huge WWE Stars
7. Ronda Rousey
While Kanter may be the most likely and suitable active male athlete with the ability to cross over into the WWE, but Ronda Rousey is easily the most suitable altogether. Quickly becoming the biggest star in MMA, Ronda Rousey has deep connections with the world of pro wrestling. She's friends with Natalya Neidhart and CM Punk, and her jiu jitsu coach Rener Gracie is married to former WWE Diva's champion Eve Torres. Rousey has also known and trained under "Judo" Gene Lebell for most of her life. Rousey's nickname, "Rowdy", was also borrowed from Roddy Piper, a friend of Lebell's. That nickname fits Rousey to a T as she is the perfect saleswoman for the sport of MMA, as her all-business demeanor builds the elusive "big fight feel" as much as anyone. Rousey and her training partners have also become affectionately referred to as the "Four Horsewomen," an ode to the classic Ric Flair stable. Without a doubt Rousey is the Flair of that group, and has become a breakout star in just over two years since winning the Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight title. Ronda's judo background would also serve her well in WWE, where her throws would add a sense of flashiness and physicality in which WWE divas rarely see. There certainly wouldn't be any patty-cake when it came to a match with Ronda Rousey. She's expressed interest in making a WWE appearance in the past, under the condition that her Four Horsewomen group appear with her, but that isn't likely something the WWE would be keen on doing. However, with movies and fights to promote, and the WWE grabbing a big crossover audience, the possibility of a Rousey appearance in the WWE is certainly high.
