8. Changing The Script
How many times have we heard in the past few months that the script was changed right before the show aired? Way too many is the correct answer for those keeping score at home. SmackDown this week is a prime example of Vince running in last minute and shuffling the deck. But what he doesn’t realize is that he may produce a good show by doing that but the continuity is being ruined.
This ties back into the last point about social media lies. I’m sure a large majority of the reasons why we haven’t seen Daniel Bryan’s announcement is due to the show changing so soon before airing. When you do it so last minute, huge chunks of the script are bound to just get left on the cutting room floor. Or in the case of Roman Reigns, perhaps gets the angle changed just enough to make for some confusing, sloppy television.
WWE doesn’t even seem to have a clear vision of where they’re going with this either. Now Roman’s attacker was reported by WWE as being forklift operator error. Sure, there is probably something planned to correct this by the time SmackDown goes off the air this week but it still feels hollow. And that all starts with the last minute rewrites.
