10 Worst AEW Matches Ever (According To The Internet)

9. Dr. Britt Baker Vs. Madi Wrenkowski - Women's Championship Tournament, February 22, 2021 (2.38)

Britt Baker
AEW

If you go back and watch the first minute or so of this match, you'd struggle to think why it is rated so poorly.

It's almost good: Baker simply destroyed her far lesser opponent with a snug, cruel streak before Rebel got in on the fun. This is where the match fell apart. In retaliation, Wrenkowski aimed some forearms at Rebel, but the issue is that she put nothing behind them and made Jenna Morasca look like Katsuyori Shibata. A subsequent dropkick attempt might have compelled a flying insect to alter its trajectory, but that is about it.

The match was at this point atrocious, and understandably so. Wrenkowski has barely worked. But it was coherently bad; you could see a basic structure.

And then Baker tried to suplex Wrenkowski. Wrenkowski took two, then attempted to block the third attempt, but Baker threw her over anyway. Then, in what scanned as a bizarre technological glitch, the match sort of buffered as Baker did it again and again. And again. They were lost completely. That, or Baker sent her for a tin of tartan paint.

It all eventually ended up with a facebuster reversal, but Baker leapt so early that Wrenkowski just seemed like she was extremely proficient at musical chairs.

It would be far preferable to endure, with no anaesthetic, Baker's other profession.
