10 Worst AEW Matches Ever (According To The Internet)

4. Allie & Brandi Rhodes Vs. Mel & Penelope Ford - The Deadly Draw, August 3 2020 (1.68)

Britt Baker
AEW

Another entry in the "People are complaining about the women's division again, we should probably do some short-lived PR exercise" series, AEW promoted the 'Deadly Draw' tag team tournament deep into 2020.

It was not good, but it was delightfully strange: former Funkadactyl Cameron was in it!

This match wasn’t delightfully strange, nor was it good. Brandi wasn't on the same form with which she delivered a miraculously great match against Anna Jay on Saturday Night Dynamite. After a half-decent explosive salvo, she attempted to kick Mel in the head, but this missed just as dismally as the Nightmare Collective stable they were once part of. Mel sold it as some concussive blow, crumpling to the mat as the lights had gone out.

In general, everything took absolutely forever to happen. It felt like a rehearsal of a match that never stood a chance of being any good; at one point, and bear in mind this was the best combination of the four, Penelope Ford held Allie across her shoulders for what felt like the length of an ROH taping before hitting a lungblower.

It just went on and on and on, nothing looked good, and even the unintentional comedy - Mel dropping directly on the mat with an arse-first flying nothing like she was the Machine in that match against DDP - was too painful for schadenfreude.
