10 Worst AEW Matches Ever (According To The Internet)
3. Cezar Bononi Vs. Luchasaurus - Dark, March 11 2021 (1.59)
Tony Khan took a punt on Cezar Bononi for two reasons.
Firstly, Khan was quite nice in giving a lot of released WWE acts and indie names some work during the worst of the pandemic. Moreover, Bononi is an exceptionally tall bloke, and you know what Bill Watts always said (because Jim Ross says it whenever someone in excess of six foot appears in AEW):
You can make a lot of money with an athletic big man.
Now, writing this comes with a feeling of intense guilt, because Bononi is by all accounts is a really nice guy and has endured a terrible time n recent years, but an athletic big man he is not.
His match with Luchasaurus was such a disaster that it went viral.
In one infamous sequence, both men got so lost that it's a wonder they weren’t the subject of a worldwide manhunt. They did not have a clue what to do next as each came off the ropes. Bononi sort of hopped; Luchasaurus motioned to execute the chokeslam before realising that Bononi was so out of position he might as well have been one of the planted fans in the crowd.
