10 Worst Animal-Related Angles In Wrestling History

8. The Steiners Set Their Dogs On Sting

The tag line for the 1999 Great American Bash Pay-Per-View was, 'The Real Fireworks Start June 13th'. This was in reference to the July 4 celebrations in North America, with WCW claiming that the PPV would be more spectacular. In truth, they should have stated that the show would be one of the worst in Great American Bash history. One of the featured bouts pitted Sting against Rick Steiner. The latter's nickname was the 'Dog-Faced Gremlin', and Steiner had long barked like a dog during his matches. Contesting a 'Falls Count Anywhere' Match, the pair were instructed to use some extremely hammy acting and shoddy camera work during their battle. The end of match came when Sting was attacked backstage by dogs. Scott Steiner became involved, and it appeared he and his brother had led Sting into a trap. Sadly for them, the segment was laughable. A mix between close-up and wide shots were used to film the skit, which baffled everyone. Making matters worse, Sting's face paint jumped between being partially off and immaculate on his face, all within seconds. This showed poor post-production skills. The dogs didn't seem to want to play ball either, acting more playful than threatening in some scenes.
