10 Worst Attitude Era PPVS
9. Survivor Series 1999
In the modern era, WWE has scaled back its use of the traditional Survivor Series matches, and a lot of people point to this as a reason the event seems less important compared to the other “Big Four” WWE PPVs, which have still maintained a level of prestige.
However, going back to 1999’s Survivor Series, it’s easy to see why WWE has phased out the multi-man match as the years have gone on.
There are four eight-man elimination tag-team matches at Survivor Series, and the winners were Godfather & D-Lo Brown, Val Venis & Mark Henry, Big Show and Hardcore Holly, which are hardly the most exciting outcomes, regardless of who the rest of the team members were.
There is the highlight of Kurt Angle’s WWF debut, but packing a PPV with four eight-man tags really exposes how weak WWF’s midcard can be.
The main event saw relative newcomer to WWF, The Big Show, win the WWF Championship by defeating The Rock and champion Triple H. WWF relied on Big Show to carry Survivor Series ‘99, competing in two matches, but just as in WCW it was too much, too soon for him and after one lacklustre defense against Big Boss Man, WWF would put the title back onto Triple H before the Royal Rumble.
