10 Worst Botches In AEW History

5. Dark Order Creeper - 18/12/19

The most famous botch in the short history of AEW? The airy punches of the anonymous Dark Order Creeper might still take that gong, but that really shouldn't be the case. Sure, the 'punches' raining down on Dustin Rhodes are just about as bad as it gets, leaving a much bigger black eye on the company itself than the legend under attack. Dave Meltzer said it could turn out to be a tipping point for the company, a step too close to the indieriffic trapdoor.

How wrong Big Money Meltz turned out to be. The creepers haven't been around much ever since but The Dark Order experienced an incredible renaissance in 2020, excelling under the leadership of 'The Exalted One' Brodie Lee before his tragic passing in December of that same year. Grayson, Evil Uno, Silver and the rest have come a long way from some of the worst worked punches in wrestling history.

Truth be told, very few modern performers throw punches like Jerry Lawler, The Big Boss Man and Scott Hall, to name just three. A solid working punch is a dying feature of the wrestling industry, for better or worse. That doesn't mean wrestlers need to start flailing at fresh air, though.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
