10 Worst Endings In WWE Hell In A Cell History

Daniel Bryan appeared to be on the fast track to super stardom following his clean win over John Cena in the main event of SummerSlam 2013. That was why it was weird when WWE proceeded to do everything in their power to make him less over in the months that followed.

His feud with Randy Orton over the WWE Championship had potential, but their matches were never quite as great as they could have been. They had the chance to redeem themselves inside Hell in a Cell, where the rest of The Authority couldn't interfere, but shenanigans involving special guest referee Shawn Michaels somehow led to that happening anyway.

Moments away from proving he could beat Orton all on his own, Bryan accidentally shoved The Viper into Michaels, which resulted in the cage being opened so the medical staff could tend to him. Triple H physically provoked Bryan while he was in there, and after Bryan retaliated by hitting Triple H with his patented running knee, Michaels avenged his best friend by delivering a Sweet Chin Music to his former pupil.

Orton escaped with the WWE title once again as the crowd looked on in disbelief. The worst part about this was that Michaels costing Bryan the championship didn't even lead to a future match between the two.

Perhaps the biggest regret about this bout was that Bob Backlund wasn't voted by fans to referee instead. Surely he wouldn't have tolerated such blasphemy.
