10 Worst Endings In WWE SummerSlam History
4. SummerSlam 2011
Once again, SummerSlam 2011 had a great main event ruined by a ridiculous finish.
After CM Punk took the WWE Championship and left the company (for about five minutes), there was plenty of speculation surrounding what WWE's plans for their top title were.
As it turned out, their plan was to have a rematch between Punk and John Cena in the main event of SummerSlam to crown an undisputed champ.
Whilst the match had nowhere near the buzz as their first encounter, Punk and Cena put on a great bout and Punk eventually picked up the win when guest referee, Triple H, didn't spot that Cena had his foot under the ropes. He counted the pin anyway and Punk was the champion.
Again, for about five minutes.
Out of the crowd (and out of 1995), Kevin Nash of all people made his WWE return. He powerbombed Punk and allowed Alberto Del Rio to cash in Money in the Bank on a prone champion.
What?
If SummerSlam 2011 had ended five minutes earlier, it would have been fine, but instead we got this overbooked guff that took the focus away from CM Punk and put it on Triple H and his best mate.
