10 Worst Ever WWE Survivor Series Team Captains

8. Jake Roberts (1991)

Jake 'The Snake' Roberts didn't just turn heel in 1991, he embraced a devil inside him that he repeatedly professed had been there all along. Emblematic of the performer Roberts was, it remains one of the grandest ever switches despite Jake barely needing to adjust his act to become one of the most despised men in company history.

First 'training' the Ultimate Warrior in ways of the dark side only to leave him exposed to an attack from The Undertaker, 'The Snake' saved most of his venom for Randy Savage. It would be a rather-too-literal rendering of this during a campaign of torture on the Macho Man and his wife Elizabeth that saw him removed from his own Survivor Series 1991 squad right as the show was about to air.

There were two reasons for the late change. Opposing captain Sid Justice had picked up a knock, and the company wanted Savage and Roberts to first touch on experimental pay-per-view 'This Tuesday In Texas' just days removed from the Survivor Series itself. Rather than airlifting Randy in as Sid's replacement on the show, the company instead elected to run the contest as a six-man tag.

Ultimately, the change destabilised them to such an extent that they were easy pickings in the event's three-on-three topliner with the Big Boss Man and The Legion Of Doom. Not least after IRS smashed his own partner Typhoon with his dreaded briefcase.
