10 Worst Excuses For Terrible Wrestling Moments

5. WWF ‘Couldn’t Get’ WCW’s Big Names

What Happened: Numerous big name WCW stars chose to sit on fat AOL Time Warner contacts instead of cutting them short to accept lesser deals with the WWF. That was entirely justified post-WCW demise. As a result, Vince McMahon's invasion angle lacked necessary star power to really make it worthwhile to fans.

The Excuse: Guys like Bruce Prichard and even Jim Ross have opined that the WWF couldn't match the money guys like Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Goldberg, Sting and others needed to break off their guaranteed deals and come back to work. That's really hard to believe.

WWF business was monstrous by 2001, and it kinda sounds like everyone's blaming the WCW lot for choosing to rake it in rather than accepting less cash to wrestle. DDP did that, and things didn't work out well for him in the fed at all.

Running the invasion regardless meant top WWF stars like Steve Austin and Kurt Angle had to switch sides so the Alliance had bigger stars. If anything, McMahon should've sat on WCW for a while and planned things out properly. Jumping the gun without WCW's best turned the angle into a sh*tshow.

Then, hilariously, the WWF brought guys like the nWo, Hogan, Flair and Goldberg in eventually anyway.
