It's one of the most forgotten PPVs in WWE history: Capitol Punishment 2011 was a June 2011 PPV headlined by John Cena defending the WWE Title against R-Truth. If you weren't watching WWE at the time you might be scratching your head wondering how in the world R-Truth became a main eventer. It was basically because they had nobody else. The heel side of the roster was seriously lacking in big names, so WWE turned Truth heel by having him smoke a cigarette and attack John Morrison with a water bottle as if that's going to hurt somebody. Even though R-Truth was a midcarder his whole career, WWE booked him like this weird heel that suddenly earned a WWE Title shot against Cena. Of course when they had the match it was a relatively easy win by Cena because nobody believed Truth was going to win. Maybe the whole thing is forgotten because one of the best PPVs ever followed it: Money in the Bank 2011. Later in the year, WWE had heel R-Truth team with The Miz in a tag match against Cena and The Rock where Truth and Miz were made to look like idiots the entire time. There were some fun moments during Truth's 2011 heel run, but for the most part he was buried by Cena any time they wrestled.
