It's the "Embrace The Hate" feud that was done to keep Cena busy leading up to his WrestleMania 28 showdown with The Rock. This was around the time where Cena has mentioned WWE thought about turning him heel going into the match, but instead he stayed a true babyface that had to deal with the Big Red Monster. For whatever reason, WWE felt the need to involve Zack Ryder in the feud. He was really popular, was the US Champion and really should have been kept out of it, but instead they had Kane attack him all the time only for Cena to make the save. Poor Ryder kept getting beat up by Kane to the point that he was in a wheelchair. Kane even shoved Ryder off the ramp while in a wheelchair! What did Cena do? He showed concern. That's about it. Cena also came off like the worst friend ever since he was caught kissing Eve, who Ryder had a big crush on at the time. At no point in the story did Cena appear to be the nicest guy ever that he's portrayed to be. He came off as selfish more than anything. Terrible booking. Cena had a few matches with Kane. Of course he won the feud. None of the matches were that good. It was just a waste of time more than anything.
