10 Worst Finishes To WWE WrestleMania Matches
9. Hulk Hogan vs Andre The Giant (WrestleMania IV)
The year prior, Hogan and Andre did battle in the main event in a match that’s short on in-ring quality but nigh unbeatable in terms of iconic value, culminating with the slam heard around the world, one of the most legendary moments in wrestling history.
As such, a rematch between the two at 1988’s event was a big deal, or should have been, anyway. Andre and Hogan met early on in the card-long tournament to crown the new world champion. It was exciting stuff, not only because we were guaranteed the removal of a tournament favourite, but because the pair remained two of the biggest names in the business.
What we got was five minutes of choking and punching, building up to the pair walloping each other with chairs for the double disqualification finish. It feels like WWE trying to have their cake and eat it - they wanted the razzle dazzle of Hogan/Andre round two, but had no intention of handing either man a loss.
There’s plenty of rubbish on this WrestleMania but this is probably the most downright disappointing match on the card, a major step down after the previous year’s triumph.
