10 Worst Finishes To WWE WrestleMania Matches
8. The Undertaker vs King Kong Bundy (WrestleMania XI)
While the streak might just be the most impressive achievement in WWE history, it’s fair to say that, for a while, the matches were pretty lousy. Undertaker’s bout against King Kong Bundy doesn’t scrape the depths of the Giant Gonzalez fight, but there’s something so ridiculous about that chloroform-assisted finish as to be deeply funny.
The Bundy match, meanwhile, loses points for making Undertaker look so utterly mundane. Instead of a quasi-mystical giant, here he’s fighting an ageing, out of shape dude with whom he has no chance of working a decent bout.
The problem is that ‘Taker can’t really deliver any of his signature offence to Bundy, a man with too much heft and not enough athleticism to assist in any measurable way. This leads us to the finish. We’re used to seeing Undertaker dispatch enemies with the tombstone, the chokeslam, or the Hell’s Gate submission.
Here, it’s a clothesline from the top rope. Not a special clothesline of any kind, just a jump and a forearm and we’re outta there. Onwards and upwards to better things for Undertaker - in about six years when the streak actually got good.
