10 Worst Finishes To WWE WrestleMania Matches
2. Hulk Hogan vs Sid Justice (WrestleMania VIII)
Even without the terrible finish, this would be down there with the worst WrestleMania main events, but the idiotic ending pushes it over the edge. Here we had a stale Hulk Hogan up against a never particularly talented Sid Justice in a completely undeserved headline slot.
The two worked badly together for 12 minutes, with Hogan doing nothing to make Sid seem a real threat and the outcome never in doubt. As Hulk made his way towards his trademark ending sequence, Harvey Wippleman interfered for a disqualification. In the main event of WrestleMania, in front of over 60,000 paying guests.
To make matters worse, the ending was re-shaped on the fly due to Papa Shango missing his cue. The future Godfather was meant to break up the pinfall following Hogan’s leg drop; instead, Sid was forced to kick out of the unbeatable move, with a red faced (not literally) Shango jogging to the ring shortly after.
While the Ultimate Warrior save that follows is iconic, this is an insultingly weak finish to a card that Hogan had no business headlining.
