8. Seth Rollins Vs. The Fiend (Crown Jewel 2019)

Oh God, the Seth Rollins/Fiend feud that effectively killed off two characters.

Seth Rollins as a babyface champion was always a dicey prospect, but fans had already started turning on him when he began his rivalry with The Fiend, who was actually a hot new character in 2019. Their Hell in a Cell match the month prior led to fans turning on everything, and this Falls Count Anywhere match wasn’t much better – though it actually had a finish.

The red lighting associated with Fiend matches didn’t help anything. It also didn’t help that the match was really a lot of wandering around the arena and using various props, a dull garbage brawl. Even the finish, with Fiend falling into electrical equipment and setting off sparks that blinded Rollins, was just gimmicky and contrived.

Sure, Fiend finally won the title (a month too late), but this match was no buys (20 minutes of spamming finishers, using foreign objects and wandering around ringside) and didn’t give you a lot of confidence in WWE’s ability to book Bray Wyatt going forward.
