10 Worst Matches In Extreme Rules History

4. Layla Vs. Nikki Bella - 2012

Just days before Extreme Rules 2012, Nikki Bella defeated Beth Phoenix to win the WWE Divas' Championship. Naturally, a rematch was signed for the pay-per-view, but it was cancelled when Phoenix was said to have been suffering from a (kayfabe) ankle injury. Instead, Bella would defend the title against a mystery opponent.

The mystery opponent was none other than Layla, who had been out of action for almost a year after suffering a legitimate knee injury. Though this was meant to be a triumphant comeback for the former Women's Champion, the match itself was a mess.

Layla started off with some armdrags, but Bella targeted the leg of the returning challenger. After a couple of minutes of "action", Brie switched places with her sister to try and pull a fast one on Layla, but the challenger hit a neckbreaker on Brie and pinned her, becoming the new Divas' Champion. Despite the attempt at a feel-good moment, the bout was terrible and the finish felt open-ended.
