2. Daniel Bryan's Ladies' Man Gimmick

After helping Team WWE fend off old pals The Nexus at SummerSlam 2010, Daniel Bryan needed something new to do. WWE's big idea was to feud him with The Miz over the United States Title. That was fine. Portraying him as some sort of chick-magnet who wasn't quite a Lothario but didn't mind the attention wasn't.

This was back in the days when WWE's grand ideas for women involved either acting like complete b*tches to one another or being so enamoured by males that they were willing to tag-team them with their siblings. How else could Brie and Nikki Bella hanging off Bryan as Michael Cole wondered aloud what they saw in such a geek be explained?

Daniel Bryan, the nerdiest of all indy wrestling nerds, was a dreamboat to The Bella Twins.

The gimmick was quickly scrapped after Daniel revealed he'd been seeing Gail Kim and WWE eventually moved him on to a much more fulfilling on-screen relationship with AJ Lee. Thank God for that, because casting him as Dean Malenko circa 2000 wasn't exactly working.

At least he got to meet future wife Brie, if nothing else.
