10 Worst PPV Endings In WWE History

5. Triple H Vs The Rock Vs Mick Foley Vs Big Show - WrestleMania 16

This match could have avoided a place on the list but for two key factors: overcomplication and ego. The obvious marquee bout would have been WWF Champion Triple H facing Royal Rumble winner The Rock, presumably with the hot babyface going over for a feel-good ending. Instead, the booking team decided to shove Big Show and Mick Foley (who had supposedly been retired by losing to Triple H at the previous month's PPV) into proceedings. The match itself was decent, but the addition of a McMahon in each wrestler's corner was a brainless, egotistical decision. Particularly bemusing was the alliance between The Rock and Vince McMahon, which turned out to be all a ruse as Vince turned on his superstar and helped Triple H retain his title. Happy endings are a pretty accepted inevitability at WrestleMania, with the crowd favourite going over in the main event far more often than not. This decision to have the bad guy win to send everybody home was never a recipe for success, especially with the overarching idea that Vince is the smartest man in the company forced down the fans' throats.
