The majority of fans hold the belief that gimmick PPVs shouldn't exist. The gimmick matches in question such as Hell in a Cell and TLC should be kept special and be incorporated into storylines when and only when they are needed.

TLC 2019 was a testament to this as the PPV was an absolute mess from top to bottom. The main event featured The Kabuki Warriors defending the Women's Tag Titles in a TLC match against Charlotte and Becky Lynch. Sadly, Kairi Sane was concussed early on, meaning the main event match fell apart and the talent involved just started calling the match on the fly, meaning it looked incredibly messy.

Elsewhere, Roman Reigns and King Corbin had a TLC match which received criticism as the TLC match type wasn't used to end the feud. Instead, it was used as a plot device to keep the underwhelming affair going. Additional matches included Universal Champion Bray Wyatt facing The Miz in a non-title encounter, in a match that was met with utter silence from the live crowd.

Bright spots on the show included a fantastic match between Aleister Black and Buddy Murphy and a great ladder match between The New Day and The Revival for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles.
