10 Worst PPVs Of WWE PG Era
4. Fastlane 2017
The idea that WWE needs two PPV events between the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania is certainly a questionable one. Over the years, Fastlane has become a PPV that serves little to no purpose other than to bridge the gap between Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania.
The 2017 edition of the PPV became infamous for being one of the worst PPVs of all time, due to one of the worst booking decisions of the PG Era. In the main event, Goldberg squashed Kevin Owens following a distraction from Chris Jericho to win the Universal Title. This decision was not a popular one with fans as they questioned why a 50-year WCW legend needed to pin WWE's top heel and go into WrestleMania 33 as Universal Champion.
Elsewhere on the card, there was an overwhelming amount of filler. Jinder Mahal would wrestle Cesaro and Big Show would wrestle Rusev. Both of these matches had no purpose as neither of the individuals in the specific matches were feuding at the time.
The PPV highlight was a match between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman. Both men showed signs of things to come later in the year as the two men had fantastic chemistry.
