10 Worst PPVs Of WWE PG Era
5. Battleground 2013
The first-ever Battleground PPV in 2013 didn't exactly get the Battleground PPV lineage off to the greatest of starts. In fact, the event was so bad that it was voted as the worst PPV of the year by the readers of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
The main event featured Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan facing off for the WWE Title. Sadly, WWE decided to book The Big Show to interfere in the match forcing a no contest, which left an extremely negative impression on the legacy of the 2013 instalment of the PPV.
Elsewhere on the card, we had CM Punk wrestling Ryback in one of Punk's worst matches ever, whilst Curtis Axel and R-Truth competed for the Intercontinental Title, in a match that belonged on WWE Main Event rather than a PPV. The opener featured Alberto Del Rio facing off against Rob Van Dam for the World Title in a Hardcore Match; the fact that it was the PPV opener, gives you an indication of the prestige of the World Title at the time.
The PPV did have a bright spot with The Shield facing off against Goldust and Cody Rhodes. The match was acclaimed by fans and critics alike, and was a top contender for 2013's Match of the Year.
