10 Worst Reasons Wrestling Feuds Started

4. Chris Jericho Spills His Coffee On Kane

Kane's character has never been too straightforward, as evidenced by the infamous angle detailed during the intro to this piece. Amongst other things, Kane was originally the victim of serious burns due to a fire set by The Undertaker. Therefore, it makes sense to imagine the initial character hated anything that seared his skin.

The WWF creative team used this in quite literal fashion, leading to a feud opposite Chris Jericho. On one episode of Raw in late-2000, Jericho accidentally spilled his coffee on the masked monster, a crime apparently so bad that Kane immediately wanted to face the Canadian in a series of wrestling matches.

Meeting in a singles bout at Survivor Series, the pair also contested a Last Man Standing Match at Armageddon in December. The whole feud escalated out of one simple mistake, Jericho spilling a hot beverage onto his peer.

This one has become infamous as a poor example of how to kick off a wrestling feud, it was incredibly tepid (ironically, given the hot coffee). Jericho himself has even poked fun at it on his own podcast.
