10 Worst Reincarnations Of Legendary Wrestling Teams
8. The New Foundation
Collectively known as The Hart Foundation, Bret 'The Hitman' Hart and Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart were one of the greatest tandems in the history of tag team wrestling. Bret's speed, agility, and wrestling acumen meshed perfectly with Jim's bullish strength, making them formidable opposition for the likes of The British Bulldogs, Demolition, and The Rockers.
However, Bret's evolution into a singles superstar left 'The Anvil' on the sidelines and without a partner. That was until Vince McMahon came up with an ingenious way to continue the Hart Foundation's momentum in late 1991.
Keeping the family connection alive, Neidhart teamed up with Bret's younger brother, Owen, and The Hart Foundation of old was still alive and well... kind of. Renamed as The New Foundation, 'The Anvil' and 'The Rocket' picked right up where Bret and Jim had left off - with the curious addition of checkered jackets and MC Hammer style parachute pants.
Bizarre attire aside, the pairing checked out from a booking standpoint, a kayfabe perspective and a logical sense. Sadly, the duo only appeared on one WWF PPV event - a win over The Orient Express at Royal Rumble 1992 - before 'Anvil' was fired for unprofessional conduct just two months after the team had formed.
