Jerry Lawler's Survivor Series 1994 ended with a custard pie dripping from his face. He was humiliated, embarrassed and alone. A victim not just of a sneak attack, but one of WWE's worst ever comedic backfires.

Often, these ideas begin with a wealth of good intentions, but even those looked hard to parse when assessing this absolute disaster. Doink's character had gone off a cliff following a late-1993 babyface turn, with Dink's arrival confining the gimmick to permanent residence amongst wrestling punchlines. And Vince McMahon's propensity for finding comedy in little peopled reared its ugly ahead almost a year later when he armed the clown with two more miniature avatars to take on Jerry Lawler and his own bullied gang.

A chicken fight sight gag that culminated in 'The King' falling flat on his face was as highbrow as the humour got. As the first man eliminated though, Doink was forced to the back whilst Lawler schemed his way to victory via abuse of the rules and other team members. The laughs beyond that point were ironically in short supply.

The mini kings and clowns conspiring to topple Jerry at the conclusion supposedly paid off his misdemeanours. WWE booked a WWE Title match to follow this atrocity to atone for their own.
