9. Mr. Kennedy Loses The Opportunity Of A Lifetime
While being a Money in the Bank winner doesn't necessarily guarantee that a performer is about to do great things, that certainly felt like the case when Mr. Kennedy won it in 2007. Already the recipient of a notable push for several months, Mr. Kennedy's Money in the Bank win seemed to confirm his future as a top player in WWE. And then during a Raw match not long after his biggest career victory, Mr. Kennedy lost his Money in the Bank opportunity to Edge. In the moment it seemed rather out of the blue. The truth of the decision would be revealed shortly thereafter, though, when it was announced that Mr. Kennedy had suffered an arm injury that would keep him out for several months. Needless to say, this forced WWE to change their Money in the Bank plans. But the real rub about this injury is that it wasn't really much of an injury at all. Further tests revealed that it was less serious than originally thought and that Mr. Kennedy could actually return in a few short weeks. Nevertheless, the damage had been done to his career. Kennedy would never again reach the same career heights in WWE and was demoted further and further down the card until he was released. Worst couple of weeks off ever.
