10 Worst Title Reigns In AEW So Far
3. Sammy Guevara (TNT Championship, 11 Days)
It didn't really make sense for Sammy Guevara to win back the title from Scorpio Sky, only to drop it again a couple of weeks later, but his whole face run was kind of a failure - which this reign signified.
His record-tying third TNT Championship win was the least remarkable of the bunch; after defeating Sky for the belt, he immediately cut the legs of his rival's chances of a meaningful reign. Having Guevera be involved in five title changes over the course of half a year wasn't good for his character or the TNT Championship in general, with his final reign being the least necessary of them all.
2022 was just a bad year for the title, with it only becoming more relevant again towards the end of the year under the stewardship of Samoa Joe. It is a shame that AEW decided to become so slapdash with their booking of the TNT Championship, as it is such an important belt when it is booked correctly.
Now that Darby Allin holds the accolade once again it is getting back on track, so let's hope 2023 is a better year for the title.
