10 Worst TNA X Division Champions Ever

7. Sheik Abdul Bashir

Shawn Daivari never really got a fair run as an in-ring competitor. During his time in World Wrestling Entertainment he was used mostly as a manager for Muhammad Hassan and The Great Khali, and he lost the overwhelming majority of his matches. He did get a win over 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan, but that was in 2007.

Daivari came to TNA in 2008, repackaged as Sheik Abdul Bashir. Exposing the lack of depth in the X Division, he won the title within two months, defeating champion Petey Williams and Consequences Creed (Xavier Woods) in a three-way match. He was champion for 84 days, before losing to Eric Young in something of a schmozz at Final Resolution.

One tell-tale sign of a company's opinion of an individual can be seen in how they perform in tournaments after their title has been vacated. In the X Division Championship tournament that came out of EY beating him, Bashir lost in the first round. Heck, even the long-forgotten Kiyoshi made it through that round!

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
